I chose this photo to portray the rule of thirds because it falls directly within the parameters. The tree is the focal point of the picture without even really being in the middle as discussed. The negative space of the sky is also highlighted because it gradually changes color as it moves away from the sun. There is also a little bit of the figure/ground perspective. If you notice that the sunset is also on the other thirds of the picture, mainly in the background as the tree is in the foreground.

Video Commercial
This video not only is perfect fitting for the phone but also is very much the same in detail as well on the phone. As it has it balances and of course sun spots and glare during the video, the phone very much projects it the same way. It is cool to see how he shares his poem and has the background in the back as well.

Good/Bad Design
Nike is the epitome of sports apparel right now. They have literally dominated the last couple years in all aspects of sports, from high school to college to even professional level. And one of the reasons why because of the ads like these. The design is very original and sleek. The balance of the picture with the grey area, and of course the highlight from the jersey of the University of Oregon. A very simple slogan, "Oregon is Faster" simply puts that Oregon is faster because of Nike. Of course, the player, DeAnthony Thomas is one of the fastest players in college football. The design of matching uniforms makes it that much more appealing to those who want to compete at that Division level or even professional level. Because of this design in this ad, Nike will continue make to make leaps and bounds in the sporting industry. This would be a good design in my opinion.
Of course, when you are first in competition you hope to be a close second or third. Under Armour at one point was on the rise of becoming the face of sports apparel at one point. But they seem to lost their touch with certain ads like these. Nothing special, just a college football player, so called "flexing" for the camera with football stadium in the background. These simple ads do not excite the consumer to step up and want to buy the Under Armour product. No special design or anything. In more recent ads, Under Armour has been duplicating Nike, with the new jersey and design. This would be a bad design in my opinion.

Contrast, Balance, Harmony
This picture I believe provides all the components of harmony, balance and contrast. I was honestly searching for something majestic, yet subtle. So being Samoan, I looked up sunsets in Samoa, and scrolled down and this was one of the many beautiful pictures that popped up, but to me this one just kind of jumped out to me.
To start off with the contrast, the balance of dark clouds and orange sky. Looking from left to right it is dark then as you as look the sky becomes clear and more orange. Also the how the mountains are dark and the reflecting water in the picture. It just seems like the light and dark is very much flows together.
The balance is definitely symmetrical here. Definitely either both from left to right and top to bottom. Again, the sun definitely puts in balance and with the water reflecting the sun and sky. The reflecting water also helps throughout the balance. The mountains on the horizon definitely makes the lighting balance pretty well.
Harmony is put together with the lighting and how everything just comes together. This is one of those moments in people's lives that they dream of, when talking about sunsets. This would be a perfect sunset in paradise.

Visceral Response
This image is more speechless to me because of how personal it relates to me. This picture is more than football, it is more than high school kids playing sports, this is the opportunity to help shape their lives for the rest of their lives.
First, one of the first things I notice is the contrast of the picture. The sky and the lighting from the dark clouds and the shinning light coming from the back. The dark clouds represent the burden of hard work that is needed to be successful. The distractions that pull their attention, such as academics, family, friends, or whatever it may be. There are a lot of stress built up, time consumed, and responsibility given to these young men. But, the light represents the accomplishments by these young men. The finish line and the happiness that comes with it. The winning games, scholarships earned, brotherhood established.
Second, the texture could be felt through sight. As you see the grass you can definitely feel the texture. The football pads look heavy, and they look tired. The sky looks heavy as it is cloudy.
This picture represents the goals that are accomplished, hopes that are established, limits that are meant to be broken, and the field of dreams are created. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, again to some this may just be high school football or just another sport. But, if you honestly look deeper, there is a much deeper silver lining then that. Nobody could ever see the heart of those around us, unless you know their story and watch their actions.
